installation help for microsoft ERP software

hi !

I am newbie wetting my hands into some ERP software from microsoft like Microsoft CRM..... but have encountered several problems while trying to install them :

Microsoft CRM installtion goes fine but when i run it the first time it asks me to tell it a server name and domain .... which I am not sure what to do about ... . does it mean that I will have to run a server on my comp if I am to run and try to learn this software .........

If so is there a get past this ..... I just want to learn this software ..... worst come to worst if I have to run a server on my comp .... what would be the safest way to do it .... so that I can exploit all the features of CRM for learning .....

any help would be really appreciated .... Thanks

To check out what you have, Microsoft's info on it is here : http://www.microsoft.com/dynamics/cr...uirements.mspx
If you're not running it on one of the server operating systems then you have the client version and it's asking you for the server info so it can hook up to it. It will need the (a) customer data base.
Pull out your credit card there's one of those "...For Dummies" books for it that will do for an intro. : http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/076...lance&n=283155 and generally smooth your way in dealing with it.
