windows installer starting every time I start excel 2003

hi
i did a detect and repair for office and then canceled it.
now, every time I start excel (2003) the windows installer wants to reinstall it.
if I activate excel.exe it starts but I have to cancel three times the windows installer.
all the other components of office are OK.
does anyone know the registry key that has to be changed to stop this?
or is there a better way?
thanks

What happens when you insert the Office cd and let it get the files it's looking for?

thats part of the problem I have been looking for this CD for 2 days with no success. I am sure one small registry key will solve this.

Nope, you are stuck without the CD. How did you even start the repair job without it?
