Is there a windows 98 defragmenting software

I would like to know if there is any free disk defragmenting software, programs that can be downloaded for windows 98, the one that comes with the system takes so long, thank you.

There are a number of them.
Type free defragmenter into the Google search box.
The problem is that I don't know of any 'good' free ones.

Download and run the Windows ME defrag utility - it is significantly faster than the Win98 defrag and it works fine. The instructions are on the website.

Excellent option and one that I use for all 98se customers. Also, you're best to run the Defrag utility in Safe Mode so it doesn't restart all the time due to hdd activity.

should xp users also defrag in safe mode?

why is diskeeper always suggested here and perfect-disk never mentioned?

Not necessary. XP's defrag runs fine without interruption. I can't answer the referral question.
