Simple Question
When you are about to download a file, you can specify where it goes and you can open it with an app. When you open it with an app, where does the file go? Im thinking it goes into temp storage, but i have never known for sure...thanks

Yes, it will typically be in your temp folder. On Windows 2K/XP, it's usually in C:\Document and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp. You'll find all sorts of temp files in there. It's a good directory to clean out every once in a while.

Will it automatically get erased with the "Disk Cleanup" tool, and saying delete all temp files?

Yep, I'm pretty sure the Disk Cleanup takes care of that one, though I've never done a "before" and "after" look to see.

would it be ok to manually delete everything in that folder? Or do that without apps running or what?

Yes, I manually delete everything in that folder all the time. If an app is using a file in there, you simply won't be able to delete it. And if an app keeps important things in there, the programmer is an idiot and you should stop using that software.

Crap Cleaner will clean out the temp folder *and* flag all nonremovable entries for deletion on reboot.
