Acrobat reader not finding words
I am using acrobat reader 7.0.7. the problem is when I want to find words in the text, it says no such word can be found even though the text is in plain sight. What is the cause of it? Furthermore, I notice this things happen with the later versions of acrobat reader. Or is it because the original document was not in word form but graphic? But then I can use the word crop tool to crop the text. I don't get it.

Ummnn, hold it.
Are you looking for the spelling/definition of a word or are you trying to find if a specific word/name exist in the file? I've no idea what your search criterions are. Sure it coud depend on the original form , if I knew the query.

is this a scanned pdf?
if it's an old article that has been scanned like an image then it won't recognize the words. there's an option to try and convert the image into text but it may only be available in the pro version (not sure).

I dumped Acrobat Reader 7 because of too many problems with it. I went back to version 6. One of my main gripes with 7 was that I could not stop it highlighting text whenever I wanted to use the hand scroll, and it seemed slower to repond to any action. I also had problems with it not finding search results.

I am not aware of the PDF format. I do know its from a journal database.
Finding specific words in the document, even though its in plain sight, adobe did not pick it up. |

Well, how old is the article in question. I have also seen such behavior, which leads me to believe it *may* be a scanned copy of an article. Perhaps it was converted to PDF from a format which does not transfer over text recognizeable to the search engine.

G'day
I don't use Acrobat reader any more. I use "FoxitReader". Incredibly 2.76 MB freeware, and does the same thing. John
