I have a Dell Latitude X200 laptop. I am using Windows XP Home SP1. I went to the Dell site and I found three applications of interest. Note that I have not installed them yet. The downloads are:
A09-X200.exe - BIOS Update Floppy R63833.exe BIOS Hard Drive, and R34506.exe Chipset Drivers. Question: Which one should I use? A09-X200.exe or R63833.exe One is “floppy”, the other is “hard drive” (What does that mean? "floppy" "hard drive") Question: Is there any order for installing the above mentioned downloads? Question: Will any of these downloads harm my laptop? That is: freeze the computer, damage Windows XP? Cause the computer to run slow? Question: Should I set a restore point before I install the downloads? Question: Will these applications cause havoc / harm to my wireless D-Link network? And, should I remove the notebook card before installation? PLEASE HELP. |

The BIOS update is to update your computer's BIOS. Unless you are having problems with your computer, there is no need to update your BIOS using either the floppy or the hard drive install files. An improper BIOS flash can turn your laptop into a boat anchor.
You probably don't need to install the chipset drivers unless you have reinstalled Windows. If you do reinstall Windows at some point, you will have to download and install the chipset drivers. |
