I am looking for software that will enable me to view basic contact info. such as name, company, address, phone, e-mail. It would be desirable to have the ability to send out faxes or letters. It needs to be able to handle about 5,000 records within the application and on the Treo 650.
It needs to be compatible with a Treo 650 running on Sprint’s network (currently running palmone applications v. 5.2H, phone v 1.0 and calendar v 1.2.2 software). I purchased the phone January 2005, so it would be worthwhile checking to see if there is more current software. I am also running Outlook 2003 and Palm Desktop Software v 4.1.4. However, I am open to alternatives that potentially would eliminate the need to use those two applications, although I do find that Outlook 2003 does a great job with e-mail, so I’m not looking to replace it. My databases are: Act 2000, REA 8, Outlook 2003 and Palm Desktop. However, the ACT 2000 database has not been updated since it was converted to REA 8, so it shouldn’t be necessary to do anything with it, unless we end up using Act 2000 again or another Act product. The software should allow us to merge the existing databases to create one new unified database that would sync to the Treo 650 so I can always access a current version of all contacts while out of the office. Outlook 2003 is not an acceptable solution because it will not allow me to independently access database records at the same time as e-mailing. Thanks for any help you guys can give. |

If Outlook is not acceptable, I assume Palm Desktop isn't either?
You can get Act for Palm or Act Link and use Act if it does what you need. There are version issues, research it carefully. |

You do not need 2006v8 to be compatible with Act for Palm or Act Link. I'd recommend an earlier version.

Look around for Act 6.0 and Act for Palm OS 1.0.
