Getting rid of Norton without cd

So a friend of mine had someone bring a norton antivirus cd over and put it on her pc which is running XP. After she found out she could get free anti virus and anti spyware programs she wanted to uninstall Norton. However when she tries to uninstall via add/remove programs or from within the Norton menu in the Start menu it tells her she has to install the cd to uninstall it. Problem is she doesnt have the cd and doesnt know where it is. She doesnt have a system restore point set up and Id rather not reformat the computer. Is there a way around this?
