DMO_E_INVALIDSTREAMINDEX Error Code

I am trying to uninstall the software for my sound card so I can reload it, but when i go to remove it this error code comes up DMO_E_INVALIDSTREAMINDEX. I went onto the microsoft website and looked it up, but there is no information on how to fix the problem. I do not feel like reformatting my harddrive if at all possible.

First try uninstalling in safe mode.
If that doesn' work then try using this, with care since it's powerful : http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=290301

What exact sound card? Driver Cleaner Pro supports quite a few sound cards.
