In Access XP, how do I enable the autocomplete in one of the form fields. It would be a great help to see if I have duplicated entries.
TIA

I don't know.
Select "Show the Office Assistant" from the Help menu and query it.

Are you askinig for the autonumber field type used when you design a table to be used as a primary key or a drop down type of data entry in a form. IN the form as long as the chocies are pretty unique then you could type just a single or pair of letters to get a choice selected for saving.
If the second, create a table with your data choices (yes/No etc) and yuse the table as the source for the drop down text box on the form. If you are lokoing for duplicates records, go to queries and with the wizrd choose the find duplicates query.

Thanks for replying, fellows.
Well, maybe autocomplete is not the proper name, but it was the first description of what I am looking forward for Access to do that came to my mind. I remember punching data into a database another person created once, and whenever I started typing a name, if the name had already been entered it would then come on and with it the rest of the info that had been filled in the other fields for that record. I don't think the name field in that database was a drop down box or a combo box. Thanks. |

As the link Pam posted suggests, the only way to do this is with VBA code. It can be as simple or as complicated as you want depending on your needs.

Drats! It looks kinda laborious. I shan't be able to use it for this project due to time constraints. But I'll use it for the bigger project my boss requested. Thanks, fellows.
