What's the history behind the problem?
Was OE working for a long time then start doing this out of the clear blue?
Does it happen to all mail?
Did you create any new message rules?

recreate profile

I would just try recreating your profile first or account within outlook express.
You should be able to go to the top menu and find accounts and write down all the information about the account. Remove it and than recreate it. Make sure you write all the information down first like incoming and outgoing mail server.

The computer was setup originally for OE the owner decided to change to web mail Time Warner (Gone from the best to the worst ISP) so we moved it back to OE using a downloaded trouble shooting program from T W......You can see the emails come in on the top half of the screen but nothing apears on the lower half regardless of what you do ....However it looks like the emails are there as you can see something on the lower half very briefly..also you can not move the cursor and type if you go to send an email. It looks as if something in OE is turned on or off but I have checked everthing. I know all his pertainent data server data, smtp pop3 etc. So I guess I will remoove OE and reinstall it . I was looking at the add remove function and it really doesn't say remove you just put check marks and then next or continue , cansome one explain that a little more...

Thanks A

messages

Are these just the messages you imported over or even when a new message is received?
If you double click on the message instead of trying to look at it in the preview pane does that result in something different?

Yes, Thunderbird is a standalone e-mail client. There are others out there too - like Eudora and Pegasus. If the computer has MS Office 2000 or newer on it, you could also move everything into Outlook.

Outlook Express is not bad for a basic standalone e-mail client, but when it has problems, they are a pain to fix. I don't really consider OE as business-grade.
