I need real help i didn't get any on the web I can not find it. I want to export my contacts and calendar to .pst file what I read on the microsoft website, however I did that and transfered it to my laptop from my desktop, but when I opened the file on my laptop only the calendar appears and not the contacts, why? BTW I do not use the mail feature in Outllok, only the contacts and calendar features. Please can someone help me maybe I am exporting or importing wrong. Isn't there just an easy way to save the whole outlook file or import/export I am not sure. You can help me on Yahoo messenger. melodic_deejay

pst
Try:
Highlight contacts than on the top menu: File Import/Export Choose Export Export to a file choose comma separator values (windows) Highlight contacts Hit next Type in c:\contacts.txt Hit next and finish. Than import the file into your other computer/outlook. |

is there no way to save or export both the contact and calendar all at once? It seems to much trouble. I want a porgram like outlook, but I don't need the email and I need it to save automaticly so i can put to disc and transfer to my laptop. I want it to save all my contacts and calendar and I like the idea of having an hourly calendar.

of coarse you can export the calender and the contactas at the same time
go to file, import export, export to file, personal folder file, click personal folders, click include subfolders, click next and pick a file name and junk. of coarse, this will export EVERYING in outlook, but since calnder and contacts is the only thing you use, then you dont have to worry about it. |

Have you tried simply finding your existing .pst file and copying it to the other computer, placing it in the correct folder?

where do I find the .pst file? Where is it located on my computer? Plus when I export to .pst file all calendar exports fine, but when I transfer it to my other computer I do not see any contacts. All my contacts are deleted or something. So this is strange I get calendar, but no contacts. Thanks for editing my photo. I didn't know how to make it a link or thumbnail. |

sorry I guess I didn't read it properly, I didn't see "export to files". However I will do like the others said first. Copy the .pst which I found on my computer and just email it to myself and get it on my laptop. I think that is the easiest way. I will let you know what happens. I don't understand though, why is Outlook not like Word, just save it to a folder on your computer. In my opinion that is the easiest way.

Before you email that .pst, you better look at the filesize - you will probably want to use a USB flash key or a CD-R. If you use a CD-R, after copying it to the new location you need to remove the read-only attribute.
Don't you have the desktop and the laptop networked? That's the easiest way to copy files from one to the other. |

if im not mistaken, i think he only uses it for calender and contacts, so unless he has 10,000 contacts he should probably be ok to email it.... although i've seen some strangely large pst files beofre so you never know....

personaly, i do not hink that you will EVER reach the 2gb limit with just calender and contact info.... but, outlook 2003 does not have that 2gb limit.
if you somehow reach the 2gb limit and you are not using outlook 2003, there are special programs that can recover the pst file, but since you are using outlook only for contacts and calnder, yhou should be ok. i use outlook for email and contacts and calnedr and i have over 6000 emails and dont even come close to 500mb. |
