Install more than 1 burning software?

I've always had more than 1 burning software installed. Mainly because none of them are 100% useful. I can use Ashampoo for DVD burning but for mp3 burning the sound level drops so I use either Cheetah or Easy CD-DA Extractor for that. Question is: Is having more than 1 installed a problem when burning? Sometimes I have problems with scratching noises on the end of my mp3 CDs and someone said it might be that I have several softwares installed. But I also have a lot of mp3 CDs that are fine so I'm not sure what it is. I'd say that 1 out of every 8-12 mp3 discs I make end up with scratching noises so I don't think it's the media (memorex). Had same problem with TDK.

There should be no problem with more than program installed. I know lots of folks, including myself, that do it. I've been doing it for a lot of years with no problems.

I have, too. Every manufacturer has error messages if your CD or DVD won't burn that says "You received an error because you may have other burning software installed".

I ESPECIALLY have more than one software installed because sometimes the erase function in some softwares doesn't work on some CDs/DVDs so I have to go to another software to do that! I'll erase a CD and load it into Ashampoo and it will tell me that I need to insert a blank CD!

I never have a problem like that if I use Nero InCD to do the erase. Do note that this is packet writing software - and you can only have ONE of those packages installed without conflicts.

Agreed with glc: I've found that both InCD and Nero do a much better job on erase than Roxio. Roxio works just fine on non-problem discs, but chokes on disks that somehow got screwed up. With disks that choke even InCD or Nero, I pop 'em in my set top DVD burner and have it "prepare" the disk.

What is packet writing software? The video and audio are written in packets? What kind of conflict(s) does that cause? I've never found a software that was 100% comprehensive or reliable that's why I do this. I think Cheetah is better than Ashampoo for some reason. My CD mp3 levels drop when I use Ashampoo.

Packet writing software allows you to format a CD-RW and use it like a 700mb floppy disk.

Nero InCD
Roxio DirectCD
Sonic DLA
NTI FileCD

How large is Nero InCD? Is it better than the Nero versions that were out in 2004-2005? Does it have a lot of peripherals that are unnecessary? And is it geared toward a layman or is it more advanced?

I read that when you erase a CD/DVD it actually only erases the table of contents (I think that's the term). It doesn't actually erase all the data. Is this correct? (Some have quick and full erase features). Thanks.

I just dumped Roxio's verion for the version of InCD that came with Nero 7 Ultra. It's a lot faster and has been working just fine for the several months since I've switched.

Don't understand your 2nd and 3rd questions: are they concerning Nero or InCD?

Deleting files on a RW is just like Window: it just hides the file. I'm sure the data is still there on a quick erase or format, but I've never tried to hack a full erase or format to see if anything is still there...

InCD is not part of Nero Burning Rom or Nero Express - it's installed separately. You must have Nero in order to install InCD.
