Data Recovery Programs?

CAn someone recommend me a good, easy-to-use, and quick data recovery program? I have one hard drive with Windows XP Pro SP2 and another which I wiped 17%.

I realized the other had some information I needed, how can I backup data from one hard drive to the other, with the least possible difficulty?

Is it possible I could boot with both hard drives? How should the jumper configuation be arranged? Is it possible to get information from the the other drive in windows?

The only free data recovery program I've used is PC Inspector. It's not bad, but not as powerful as the well regarded commercial programs. Yes, data recovery software is designed to be used in Windows. DISCONNECT the problem drive IMMEDIATELY and install the software. Then reconnect the problem drive and scan it. Data will have to be recovered to a different drive, you can't usually restore it in place. If PC Inspector can't do it, the 2 commercial programs that seem to be the best are GetDataBack and Ontrack Easy Recovery. You can download free demos to see what it CAN recover - then you buy it to do the actual recovery.

For free software, Directory Snoop has worked pretty good for me.

I use Bad Copy Pro, my camera card got corrupted on my vacation, so it was worth the $50 to me. It also does recovery of HDD and recycle bins as well.

Badcopy Pro is not really designed for hard drives - but it's the best I've ever seen for removable media.

I used EASY RECOVERY Pro...Worked well.

EasyRecovery Professional can recover all file types, plus it has added viewing capabilities to allow you to preview recovered files.
