vmware
Does anyone use or does anyone have an experience with vmware. I'm eventually going to try it out. I was thinking instead of having multiple computers all over your room with multiple wires - you could have just one computer and use vmware to have those multiple computers. I understand the power has to be decent on the computer. However, I'm not trying to build a company, I just play around with stuff here and there. For example: Believe it or not, at work I have a 2 computer domain that runs "Active Directory, DNS, Exchange2000, IIS and many other programs. The computer that is the Domain Controller and the Exchange2000 server is a 734 Meg Processor with 512 Megs of Ram. My point is, I only use it to test stuff out pertaining to my job and so at home I"m thinking vmware will be great for playing around with different operating systems such as Linux, having smoothwall on one of them, ect.
Any experiences you want to share with vmware? I'm looking for home experience more than work experience. |

I took a look at VMWare Player a few months ago, mostly as a way to try Linux distros. I was impressed.

I have used vmware threwout college... its a great peice of software, You can do everything with it like u have a duel boot system. U can install multiple OS's and they run like a charm. doesnt have any limitations, when u run the OS on the vmware, its as if its installed on your own. be advised though, Vmware is a system resource hogger, you will need a suffcient amount of memory... ( at least 512) but other than that... great software.
