Nero Burning Issues

I have Nero Start Smart as my primary program for burning cds, dvds and such. i open up the program, go to "Make Your Own DVD-Video", which brings up a new window for actually burning the dvd called "Untitled Project [DVD-Video] - Nero Vision Express 3". From there i add the file that i want to drop in, which is "Family Guy Movie - Stewie Griffin Untold Story.avi" (which i dld) but from there, it says that due to copy rights, MPEG-4 Coding is not available.

but im able to just click next and proceed all the way to the burning stage.

so did the warning not really matter? was it irrelavant? is the encoding simply tjhere just to speed up the burning procees? (b/c it seemed like it was going to take about 50min to burn)? thx for the help.
