Daemon Tools crashing system

Hi guys,

I was installing Daemon Tools 4.0.3 today and my computer started to hang/freeze intermittently during the install process. After 20 minutes I forced a reboot, but the screen is completely black.

Booting up to Safe Mode did the same thing. Second time around I hit esc to cancel the loading of some file called stp.sys (I think that is what its called) and then I can see Windows. Tried to uninstall Daemon Tools but apparently it is not installed. Not quite sure where to go from here. Any advice or suggestions (aside from not using Daemon tools? )

Update: This is the message I receive during safe-mode startup (in ordert to bypass the black screen): "Press ESC to cancel loading SPTD.sys"

Wow, thank you for the ultra fast response GlC.

And thx for the link. Everything is back up and running (which is great b/c my Mom was about to kill me if she couldn't check her email. )

Just one more question:

About this second part -

DAEMON Tools V4 also uses SPTD (SCSI Pass Through Direct) driver to access cdroms and it is also automatically installed during DT setup. But SPTD is not removed during uninstallation because it may be used not only by DAEMON Tools but by other applications as well and its removal may disrupt these applications.

Should I take the extra steps to delete this from my registry as well? I don't think i'll plan on using DT again, so I may not need it.
