Beginner's Photo editing software

i just bought a digital camera and wanted to supplement it with an image editing program. i remember using paintshop pro way back when and that i really liked that program but from what i read in reviews now all of these programs have gotten so darn complicated! i'm just looking for any suggestions on a less advanced photo/image editing program which i could use that doesn't have a very steep learning curve.

Another good one is GIMP : http://www.gimp.org/

Gimp is hardly for beginners - it has a pretty steep curve. Maybe you should look around for an older version of Paint Shop Pro if you already know how to use it.

Paint.NET seems pretty easy to use compared to irfanview and gimp.
But you need to have .NET Framework2.0 installed to use it.

Paint.net is much easier than GIMP. i would never recommend gimp to anyone. i always switch back to windows to use photoshop rather than dealing with the 3 differnnt windows of gimp and hardly confgurable brushes

If you like PSP, then you may still want to consider it. Yes, it got non-user friendly for a while, but starting with version 9, and a lot in version 10, it's now a lot more user friendly. There is still a lot to learn with it, but many things can be done "automatically" instead of manually now. Without knowing your personal skill level, it's hard to say if it is a good choice or not.

Wow... learning something new everyday! In looking up the link for PSP X, I discovered that vesion XI is now out!

Picasa

I would recommend Picasa: http://picasa.google.com/download/index.html It's free and easy to use. One advantage with Picasa is it will search through your hard drives and gather together every photography it finds - even those photographs you have forgotten you had.
