Enhanced Edition of Nero 7 Ultra
New release dated 9-18-06. I have downloaded and installed it but haven't had a chance to evaluate any differences. It's a Free Upgrade if you already own Nero 7 Ultra. Read about it and download here.

I dunno - it sure looks to me like they have taken what used to be an excellent package and bloated the heck out of it.

Nice tip, PR. I have 7 Ultra, and I'll check out the "EE" in detail.

I was using 7 Ultra for a while, but got tired of the bloat and lag in operations. So, I ditched that and went back to using 6.

Don't bother with this Enhanced version. Seems like they reloaded all the bugs from the original CD. The Copy CD feature doesn't work for me and I burned 4 coasters using Nero Burning Rom. Back to the NON-Enhanced version for me!

Speaking ov Nero.
I use Nero too, haven't really found any problems with it until I got this vs. 7 ultra edition. Which unfortunately coincided roughly with getting this new computer.
The issue I have with it is when it is converting .avi to DVD. Mpeg to DVD is fine...I don't know if it's a codec issue or software issue, and certainly don't want to go installing new codecs when I'm very happy with the playback quality of the ones I have... Nero seems to get almost all the way thru the process then fails during the write process. I haven't reported it to Nero, because thus far I have more faith in their ability to do computer things right than myself.

If you're still within whatever time Nero gives you, I'd contact them. I haven't had any problems with 7, but I had tons of problems with 6. Nero work very hard to straighten things out and I give them credit for that; lots of companys don't spend that much time (if any) anymore.

Another update. After posting my last post last nite I went back to the drawing board. Uninstalled Enhanced and reinstalled 7 Ultra. But now it was broken too! Start Smart display was missing items and even had an error message during the load. Tried Uninstalling Ultra and installing Utra Demo as I had before but this time Demo showed the same crippled features. Finally got desparate and after uninstalling all Nero programs and removing all Nero folders, I used Regedit to remove all mention of Nero from my pc. Halfway thru at about 3:30 am I realized I was working without a net - forgot to backup the Registry before I started! Luckily I didn't do any damage (whew!) I couldn't believe how many entries there were for this bloat! Unbelievable! Finally, I ran Registry Healer (which I've used for 3 years now), rebooted and tried the new Enhanced install again. This time I let it install all the default options rather than restrict it to only the features I wanted. No errors during the install and it works great now - at least for burning. I haven't taken the time to try any other features yet. However, today I noticed a major decrease in the amount of free space on my C: drive. A quick check of the hidden Temp folder under Local Settings showed over 5.7K entries - and most were related to Nero!! Removing those Temp files added 1.5Gb to my C: capacity. To say Nero is bloated is an understatement.

I've only used Nero once. I don't even think I have a CD/DVD burning software on my PC right now anyways. I used to use what came packaged with my ASUS motherboard; installed only the disk writing software, and it worked like a charm... really easy to make boot disks from .ISO files too. If I can remember the name of it, I'll post it... it's something along the lines of Disk Master.

I'm having no issues whatsoever with 6.6.1.4 - it works as advertised and isn't terribly bloated.
