Fax software: inbound, mainly, forward to e mail

Hi there:

I have a need to receive a moderate number of faxes, using a local fax number which I do not have yet. I do not have a fax line, nor do I have a land line in the home office. Just high speed internet into the home office.

For 30-45 days, I want to be able to give someone a local fax number and receive a .pdf type attachment in an automatic e mail.

Can someone lead me to a thread, or a related web site? I searched, but found a lot of OLD threads. So much has changed, eh?

Thanks.

Sounds more like you need to get them an email address???

Might check out the following for faxing with braodband:

Efax.

You probably need Plus or Pro. It does not look like Free will do what you need, unless it's less than 20 faxes a month to a long distance number and you can deal with a proprietary attachment format. The .efx attachment viewer is a free download though, it's what I use. Free cannot send faxes, Plus or Pro can.

EDIT: Detailed rates -

Thanks, guys. I chose the free number for now, and somehow it automatically chose a fax number with precisely the last 4 numbers as my phone number, a number ending with a double zero. It has a different area code, of course, as all the efax free numbers do, but the last four numbers are the same.

Not bad, eh? I LOVE those double zero ending phone numbers, and now I have one with a free fax number....thanks to you.

I used efax quite a number of years ago, and I chose it again, but I really wanted a local number for this one.
