A couple software questions...

Here are two questions that are bugging me...
If you can help me on one of these, I'll be eternally grateful.

1)My new programs cannot access the internet. (Itunes 7, the newest firefox, hamachi) I don't think this is a network driver(I don't know my network driver, but I think it's intel) issue b/c all my old programs can access the internet. I unintalled the newer firefox, installed the older one and it works. The only firewalls I have are NOD32, the lavasoft ad-watch, and the primitive XP firewall. I really doubt those would interfere... Really confused here...

2)I installed Pheonix Always (http://www.phoenix.com/en/Products/T...+6/default.htm)
but then it started lagging my computer...so I uninstalled it. The software is gone(not in program files), but whenever I boot up, it starts making a quick backup. Is it some kind of hidden partition? How do I get rid of it?

Thanks In Advance,
SuffRage18

No it's not the network driver it's a permissions problem.
You have to tell the XP firewall about the new Firefox : http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...2_wfintro.mspx
http://msdn.microsoft.com/security/p.../firewall.aspx

edit : Go to Support for that product and get their instructions for removing Pheonix Always.

I don't have the new firefox installed right now...but I checked the windows firewall, and Itunes is in the exception list, yet it cannot access the internet.

I also can't seem to find anything about uninstalling in the customer support. I already sent an email, and there has been no reply...

OK, read through this : http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304082
It must be the new edition that's cleared not the old one, same deal as Firefox.
Updating changes the version and it's 'that' version that must be in the exception list, not the old one.
I don't know what hours they keep at Pheonix so you'll have to wait on the reply.
edit : You installed Phoenix Always on your home computer?

If iTunes can't connect even with the XP firewall disabled then it's not the firewall.
Copy your music library somewhere safe (back-up, back-up, back-up ) and then uninstall iTunes, if you downloaded Quicktime separately uninstall that as well.
Go into your Programs folder in My Computer, and delete any remaining files for either program and then download and run this : http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=290301
I'm not sure what other problem might be contributing but I'm wondering about the Phoenix program that has security and back up features and didn't uninstall correctly.
It may be recreating the problem each time you boot the computer.
So just wait till you here back from those guys, probably on Monday, and remove it completely before you try again with any new programs or updates.
Given what I read about Phoenix on their web site their programs are designed as enterprise solutions.
Was there some particular reason you picked that for a home set-up?
