try file scavenger
www.quetek.com it costs $50 but according to maximum pc they did a test where they reformatted and reinstalled windows and they were still able to recover files without any problems, im not saying this will solver your problem but it sounds like you are willing to try anything, just make sure if you do get this to not install it on same partition or hard drive where you lost your archived pst file since installing it might overwrite some of your data, either install on a a second hard drive or if you have another pc, put it on there and yank the drive you need to recover the files from and put it in that second pc. your other alternative would be to contact a file recovery specialist, but they can be pricey, up to $$$$, so you need to determine how important those emails are to you before throwing down the cash. most places will even charge you something even if they can't recover anything.

Thanks guys. I will try to the methods you provided. If it's too troublesome, I am pretty sure I would just forget about them since I got hard-copies of all emails.
Thanks. |

If you overwrote it - with the same filename - you aren't going to get a complete recovery, and being a .pst file which is a database, it's all or nothing.
