NERO Software Problems

Hello,

Thanks for your valuable time and kind considerations, in advance.

I am running Win XP Pro SP2 and have installed a new DVD / CD burner, a "Life is Good" brand. This is an external drive connected via USB.

I recently installed the new NERO 7 DEMO version and upon the expiration of the DEMO I chose to reinstall my previous software, NERO 6.6. Upon uninstalling the DEMO version and reinstallation of the previous version I started to get error messages.

I found that my other media players would not play mpg/avi video files and that the NERO player would not function either. I would get the message "the installation of Nero is corrupt - Please reinstall Nero".

I reinstalled several times, even after going to the lengths of manually deleting all related directories from my hard drive and all entries for Nero/Ahead in the registry. I initially uninstalled NERO with the Windows XP control panel "remove programs" option in each case.

Presently, I am unable to get the drive to burn any disks and the error message immediately follows any effort to do so.

The "drive" also informs me that the Nero software recommends that I configure the drive to DMA and I have done that several times, requiring a reboot. The Nero wizard does not apparently accomplish this task.

Have found that mpg files will now play using other players, but NOT avi files.

No assistance is available through the NERO site on this topic.

This is very strange to me and I am stuck.

Any help will really be appreciated.

Thanks in Advance,
Scott

Thanks a lot for the greeting and the assist!!!

Will give it a run. I was thinking that there might be some residual info in the registry or something, though I cleaned out everything that had "ahead" and "nero" listed in it (that I could find) I know there is a solution and in time it is bound to be straightened out. Hope this clean tool does it. Have been tied up with this for about ten days.

Much Thanks
