Files not found in Excel
I have saved some documents in Excel however when I wanted to retrieve them, the files are not there. I have saved the Excel documents on my desktop. However, when I double-click to retrieve the file, it opens a blank excel page instead. I also saved them into My Documents but it opens a blank page too when I try to retrieve them.
I have done system restore, doesn't work, it says restoration incomplete. I have also reinstalled the Microsoft Office 2000, doesn't work too. What should I do? Those documents are important to me. I can only open them by going to file>open>my documents.......but I find this process tedious and inconvenient as I need to search for the files I saved. Please help. Thanks so much |

The thing you have to remember is that you are not saving files in excel, you are saving excel files on your PC somewhere, wherever you choose. Excel is just an application that you use to view/edit them. All you need to do since these files are on your desktop, or wherever they are located is just double click the file itself and it will automatically open excel for you, and display the document you just clicked on.

When your in my docments just create a shortcut and put it on your desktop.
Or open excel---file---open---select your work. (it should open to the file that the excel docs where saved into.) be sure you are saving them as .xls |

Did you save them in .xls format or did you save them as .csv? if you saved them as csv then you will need to get Excel to search for all files in the open file menu instead of Excel workbook, which is standard.

In the off chance the sheet was moved to an unviewable section of the Excel workspace, try doing this in Excel after you have double-clicked the file: Window > Arrange > Tiled
