Lost messages in Sent Folder
Hi, I noticed today that I'm missing a block of my sent messages from February to this past 10th of October. Any ideas, they just dissapeared. They are not in the deleted folders. Thanks, Bob

Search your hard drive for "sent items.dbx" - you must include hidden and system files - post how many you find, location of each, and file sizes.
You can try file - folder - compact all folders from within Outlook Express. |

The second location is not where it's supposed to be - the first location is valid. Looks like the messages got split somehow.
Try this. Open the import/export wizard, import messages. Import from OE6, then import from a store directory. Browse to the *second* location and import ONLY sent items. Those databases are huge. You definitely want to clean up and resort your stuff, then compact all folders. |

Well the database is larger since all the files I moved before to another folder came back when I imported, but still not the ones I lost in the first place. Is there a virus that can do this? At least a known one? I appreciated all your help, hopefully there is a way to get these.

What other .dbx files are in that second location? They may be hiding in one of those. Check all your folders and see if they inadvertantly got moved into one of them.

They are all there. I will copy to a different user acct. and use those extra as the default OE dbx files and see what's there. I'm trying DBXtract on a copy of the sent items.dbx. Thanks for all your help. I'll let you know if it works.
