Some things play sound through internal speaker
Fresh installation of Windows and all the correct drivers installed. Some software seems to be using the internal speaker to notify me of things...such as Gmail Notifier telling me I have new email by a beep of the internal speaker. Most thing are playing out the speakers as norm.

You don't have a valid sound file associated with the GMail notifier.
Control panel, sounds and multimedia, sounds. Make sure you have a valid sound associated with default beep too. |

Nice one, thanks. That seems to have solved the GMail one. However, my ActiveArmor firewall still beeps through the internal speaker when it warns of a program trying to access the net.

Okay, look some more in that list for that sound event and look in the firewall settings.
