HELP on wallpaper!...

I'm not sure I'm in the correct category here, but here goes. I have a 15.4" screen with 1280 x 800 resolution. I have a folder on my desktop with various wallpaper patterns. I have had it along time and haven't added to it and I think I transferred it over from my old Dell computer with a standard 17 inch screen. Anyway, I decided that I wanted to add some new wallpaper. No matter WHAT I do, when I right click on Properties to add wallpaper to my desktop, the image comes through large and blurry. At first I tried to get images that were 1280 x 800. None of that worked, so I tried all other sizes. When I changed my settings, which I know I never had to do before, then it messes up my fonts and icons on the desktop. I can't figure what I'm doing wrong here. This is how I've always done it before. Shouldn't I just be able to go to an image that is 1280 x 800, right click on that image, and add it to my desktop as wallpaper and have it come out clear? Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

It is probably because of your 15.4" screen. What happens when you center the wallpaper instead of stretching it?

Right click on your desktop, click on properties, click on the desktop tab, select "center" from the drop down menu where it says "Position".

I also have a 15.4" 1280x800 display on my notebook and even when I find a background that is already sized to 1280x800 I usually have to go in and do the settings I described above.

Here are some great backgrounds by the way: http://interfacelift.com/wallpaper/i...s&w=1280&h=800

When I do position it and click on Center, then it becomes a really small square. Now, I transferred my present wallpaper over from my Dell with it's standard 17" screen and they come up perfect on my 15.4 screen. Any other thoughts on this? Thanks.

To 12Twelve12....

This is interesting...when I went to the great website you gave me on wallpaper, for some reason it came out GREAT on my desktop using the 1280 x 800. So what I don't understand is why none of the other stuff did. Thanks for the great wallpaper site!!!

If you center it and it is a small square that means that the image is small. When you select stretch, it works okay sometimes on the lower resolutions. But when you get into higher screen resolutions and wide screens, the image is skewed because it isn't stretched proportionently.

It's so strange because I transferred a folder of wallpaper from my standard 17 inch old Dell to this newer computer and for some reason they all came through fine. But I'm sure you are correct on this. I'll just have to make sure to get widescreen from now on. Thank you for your help.
