effective programs for ghosting hard drive

Are there any other programs besides symantec Ghost that are good for cloning a whole hard drive? i have tried using my drive manufacturer's software with no luck, however i really do NOT want to purchase anything made by symantec after previous experiences i've had with their products. thanks!

you can get a free copy of ver. 7.0 here, if you want the latest version which is 10 you have to pay $50 for it.

Just curious, but what problems did you have? If the manufacturer's utility didn't work, you may have a drive problem...

When you cloned it, did you pull the "old" drive from the system and re-cable / re-jumper the "new" drive before trying to boot?

its not expired. i just downloaded from it less then a week ago.

first you have to register. then they will send you a password in an email which you need along with your user name to login to there site to get to the download of acronis 7.0.

use the link i posted above, and click my account after you register and sign in on the right side of the page, from there click on registered products and acronis 7.0 should be listed as an available download.

just tried it again with a different email account and it still works.

after you register at the link posted in my first post and they send the email, you have to copy and paste a link into your webbrowser to complete registration, and thats where you get the password. from there you can copy the password and click the link for manage my registered products and then login to download acronis 7.0
