nlite issue with W2K SP4
Hi,
I'm trying to build a Windows 2000 Pro disc with SP4 on it so that I can use a large hard drive on a new machine. I got the CD with SP2 all loaded into nlite, and then I downloaded service pack 4 from M$. When I tried to integrate the pack, I get this error: Quoting error::: Failed to copy some or all of the files necessary for integrated instal. Please check that: a) No network or copy errors occured during the integration process b) The format of the destination directory is correct. The files to be integrated must reside in an i386 and/or ia64 or nec98 directory (i.e. for an i386 share, if you typed "update /s:c:\cdshare", the files must be in the c:\cdshare\i386 directory) End quote::: I give up. What does that mean? I tried moving it to the i386 folder in the Win2k disc copy folder (I know, that was kinda dumb). The problem is that I'm using the navigation tool to find the downloaded .exe pack. What am I doing wrong here? |

Why don't you just make a slipstreamed Win2K disk w/SP4? Why use the Nlite? Several sites offer step by step instructions. Here's a good one.

throw in your current win2k and launch nlite.
browse the win2ksp2 disc and you will be prompted to select the location where to save cd files for modification. create a folder on your desktop and then navigate to that folder and have nlite copy all files from your win2ksp2 disc over to that folder. click next past presets. click on integrate a service pack and create bootable iso buttons and choose next for service pack integration click the select button and then browse to the .exe file. if you still have trouble integrating it ithen you might want to try and redownload the sp4 file in case it is damaged or corrupted. browse to a location where you want to save the iso i would make life easy and save it to the desktop again. finally burn it to a blank cd using your burning program.
