Program to automatically organize music files?

I have some music that is unorganized, in itunes there is nothing under the artist field, instead under the track name field there it displays artist – song name, going though and renaming all of this correctly manually would take a long time. Is there a program that can read the artist and track name based on the actually name of the file and then tag it so it displays correctly in itunes?

Not sure if it works with itunes, (which uses m4a files, I think) but I know it did wonders for my mp3 collection. You can use masks, which recreate the file from the id3 tag, or vice versa.
