Problems with registering Microsoft Small Office 2003

Good day all,

I just bought a laptop from dell and it has Microsoft Small Office 2003 preloaded on it. When I try to run any of the office programs like Word or Powerpoint it asks to basically register it with the product key... Well I don't have one but I tried the product key on the bottom of the laptop for XP Home but that didn't work so where would I get this information? This laptop was from the outlet store of Dell but was never loaded to Windows before I had it supposedly. Anyone got any suggestions?

Don't even bother - it's just a 30 day trial anyway. If it were the full thing, you would have received a COA.

Well that sucks... I need some form of a word program or something... Are there any freebies out there that do things similar to word?

get Open Office : http://www.openoffice.org/

It's free and compatible with Microsoft's Office.

Dells should come with either Works or Word Perfect.

Try Wordpad - it may do what you need. That's part of Windows.

Thanks for both of your replies... After I wrote that message I did my own research and found open office which I probably should have done before I wrote the message but I have become dependent on these forums when it comes to computer questions. Thanks a lot and I wish I could get that damned CD/CD drive problem fixed.. I will let you know if I ever do get it fixed without replacing anything.
