Firefox + VLC media player
Does anyone know how to play embedded browser videos using VLC? VLC had a broswer plugin that would play any video for you, but I think Firefox 2 broke it. That was my only way around the annoying quicktime player always playing mpg's, so now I'm stuck using quicktime again.

Have you tried uninstalling Quicktime and installing Quicktime Alternative?

Quicktime Alternative is just the codecs and Media Player Classic. MPC looks just like the old WMP 6.4 and is nice and lean, no annoyances at all. There's a Real Alternative too.
