Cannot copy and paste from IE6 into word
I was doing alot of copy and paste into word from IE 6. Then all of the sudden I can copy. Highlighting what I want to copy and hitting either the control and c keys or right clicking and copy. I then try to paste into word and word will freeze up. Can anyone tell me exactly what is going on?? I use AVG virus scanner and ICLEAN for bugs but have not found anything.
Any help would be grateful. BTW I can type into word, I just can't paste into it. Thanks Duckie |

have you tried restarting your pc?
if you highlight the text in IE6 then go to Edit>copy in IE6 and then edit>paste in word. does that work?

My reaction would be Ob1 first suggestion.
Save the document(s) and then restart.

Also, in Word before pasting click on View and make sure it's set to Normal or Web Layout.

Most of the time clearing your browser cache will fix that problem.
Tools/Internet Options/Delete files.

ok... it is in normal, I use ICLEAN so it clears out all the history and the browser cache files, I even manually went in to check, everything was cleaned out and it still locked up. I also went to ms help... guess what... LOL No help... anyone else got suggestions?? I tried to ms 2000 office professionals repair.. that did no good either. Tried the updates. Says it does not need any for it. I am at a total loss. I cannot copy into word or even onto notepad. Strangest thing I have come across yet. Anyone got any more Ideas? I would be grateful!!!

When you right click and get Properties, what shows up on the read only or write only?

In the word it is PASTE, FONTE, PARAGRAPH, HYPERLINK, SYNONYMS
In IE for highlighting the copy it is COPY, SELECT ALL, PRINT, SEARCH THE WEB |

You look like a candidate of Office Repair.
Have you got the disk or did Office come pre-installed ? You may be able to get out of this, what are your restore points and document saves ? Do you have all the recent files backed up and moved? |

OHHH I meant to tell you... Some things it will copy and some things it won't ... Like it will not copy things out of my e mail but it will copy other things other things off the net.... I use yahoo as my e mail... What's up with that?? It is very confusing.. or am I just a friggin idiot...
hehehehe probably.. the idiot@!!!! Anywho... any help would be greatful cause I have alot I need to copy over. Thanks again |

I did try the office repair.... It did not do anything to help that problem. Unless I did not use the repair correctly.

OK back up a minute.
Since we can't see what you did we need you to tell us. What was the last thing you cut and pasted before this happened? What saved changes do you have ? No you're not an idiot, but I swear there's lots of things to make you think so. For now if we have enough info to backtrack, since we know it's not the usual, we can either tell you what happened (avoid in the future) or undo it. |

ok.... I opened up word.... and opened up ie... went to a web page. highlighted a few things and copied them... then pasted them into word..... It pasted.... so I deleted it out of it. Then went into my e mail... highlighted what I really wanted to copy and tried to paste that into word and it freezes. This happens everytime. I tried rebooting my computer and just copying striaght from my e mail into word and it would freeze. So then I tried just copying into notepad to see if it was word... but no cigar... it freezes in notepad too. I do not understand what the heck the problem is when it is coming out of my e mail. I just tried the word pad on regular copy and paste not out of e mail and it will not copy and paste into there either.... but it did paste into note pad.... what the heck??? I am outta my league here

You opened Word an IE.
You copied text from IE and pasted it into Word (This wasn't one of those Portal pages with DRM built in ?). You saved in DOC. format? |

no...not that I am aware of.... I was just coping some text and trying to put it over into word... I have been doing it for the past year... I have been getting the same email from the same source for eons.. and never had a problem before.. until the last few months..now I cannot copy it into it. How would i know?

OK we have dates.
Any new software or upgrades/updates about then? Any reason to run a scan that wasn't the usual? We have to narrow things down. |
