Meta/EXIF tagging photos

I have recently started helping with a yearbook project and looking at somethings we could improve upon. One thing we struggle with is remembering who took what photo. So I am wondering if it is possible to easily mass tag photos with photographers names, preferable fast edit from OS but a program would be cool too.

If it were possible on camera that would be sweet, however, the next best thing I see is embedding it in the EXIF data or in a meta tag. We use macs 10.3.4 (kinda wierd how some mac software isn't actually compatible with its own OS), so I am looking for something for that. Please let me know if you have any ideas in this area!

Thanks!

Asking for video advice for a Mac on a PC forum can be dicey.
