Exclamation IE and ISP Conflict

As most of you will agree, IE sucks. Firefox is just plain and simple the elite browser.

So here's my problem. I have IE installed on my PC, but I want to completely get rid of it.. So this is what I did, I went into Control Panel > Add Remove Programs > Add/Remove Windows Components and I unchecked Internet Explorer. But this never solved my problem, IE still popped up and for some reason, every time I boot my PC up, Windows likes to reset the default browser to IE even though I specifically set Firefox as my default browser through the "Set Program Access and Defaults" and through Firefox itself..

So I decided to completely wipe out IE from my PC. This time I did the same thing as I explained above except this time, I went into Safe Mode, went into the Internet Explorer folder under C:\Program Files and deleted the folder.

This solved part of my problem.. My other part of this problem is my ISP. I have dialup (Netzero) and for some reason, Netzero has made their dial up software where it has to rely on IE for it to stay connected. Perfect example, After I completely wiped out IE from my PC, I ran Netzero and connected successfully but upon connection to the internet, an error came up saying the resources were missing and it shuts Netzero down and boots me off the internet.

Now, does anyone know how I can have IE completely removed and still use Netzero? Also does anyone know how to set Firefox as my pernament default browser since everytime I boot up, IE is automatically reverted back to "Default Browser"

Let's talk compromise.
Restore IE since you won't win the argument with Netzero.
Once you get the connection boot Fire Fox since you can run more than one browser.
Wait it gets better, Fire Fox has an IE Tab extension which means sites you designate open in IE even if you're using Fire Fox.
Put Netzero in it.
Open Netzero in the FireFox tab and close the original IE window.
Keep the tab and go about your Fire Fox business.
Send the guys at netzero an e-mail about standards, they should get with the program.

Thanks for the advice but that just semms a bit out of the way type of thing..

Either way, I fixed my problems with my own solution.. I just deleted iexplore.exe from the IE folder and added a shortcut to Firefox with the label iexplore.exe.. now whnever i launch netzero, it opens firefox instead...

Wow I can't believe my ears. IE is way better and faster than Mozilla. The new IE 7 wastes Firefox 2. IE is "less secure" but who cares. Use deepfreeze then. But thats my humble opinion.

Please do not turn this into a browser war thread. Thank you.
