MS Word problem
Ok, I am trying to remember how to make it so that when someone types on a line that the line doesn't move forward and ruin the layout of the word document. Like say you have this:
Name: ________________________ and when they type in it, it does this Name: Eric Natzke________________________ How do I make it (without using the insert key since when they backspace, it screws it up also) not move the line so when they type, it is like they are typing ontop of that line and it looks like this. Name: Eric Natzke__________

Hmmm, I am not followng you. I get what your sayin in that the people would just underline what they type in. But it is still going to push the "________________" that is already on the page forward. I want it so that they click on that line and just type their name and it just types right over the line without moving anything forward or backwerds.

OK I see, my bad.
It seems likely that you will have to redo the template in part. Here's how to get what you want : http://www.computorcompanion.com/LPMArticle.asp?ID=22 |

Bah, I figured. I was just hoping there was a quicker way around it then creating a form. Thanks Pam123.

Hi T9B, , ,
I have a thought about your moving line. If you only have this line issue in a couple of places, maybe this will help you out. It's not as fancy, but only you have to know it's there. Enter your data the way you want it to look with the word and the underlined spaces. " Name: _____________________ " Then open the Draw function , draw a line that is the same length as your underline and you can nudge your drawn line to on top of your underline or just a smidge below it and change the thickness if needed. Zoom helps with that. Then delete your underline and you have a line that won't move whether "they" forward space or backward space. Of course, if "they" click in the wrong place that will be a problem, but it might work. Just a suggestion. And thanks Pam123 for the link to the 'create a form' data ! One of my bosses always wants a new form for this or that and I always use Excel rather than struggle in Word. This info will make those labors much easier. A happy and prosperous New Year to all.
