Anybody ever used Gimp?
Wanted to see what you guys and gals thought of gimp photo editing software. And where would be a good place to download it from.
Im just looking for something to mess around with, nothing to serious but powerful enough that I wont be limited to just removing redeye or resizing. And most of all free!

Here is our in-house review: http://www.pcmech.com/show/opensource/718/
I would download it from the source: http://www.gimp.org/downloads/ As for using it, it has a steep learning curve. Be prepared to take some time to learn how to use it. It is powerful for free, but not exactly second-nature to use at first.

i just switched from xp over to ubuntu and have been attempting to make the transition from Photoshop CS. it is a very steep learning curve. one thing i have found is that a lot of the principles are the same with PS, but all the shortcuts are different, so where i could do things very quickly in PS its taking me awhile to learn the GIMP way of doing it
