how do i control workbook scrolling so only part of the cells scroll (allowing me to keep the important data visible while i scroll and adjust distant cells)?

Send a message via Yahoo to pillainp
Menu WINDOW>SPLIT.

This will give you a horizontal and a vertical bar across the worksheet. Drag each bar so that the area you want not to scroll is included. Select that area and then select WINDOW>FREEZE PANES.

Actually, you can just click cell C14 and go to Window---freeze panes.
