Can Not Burn Office 2007 Install File to Disk

My wife and I each got a copy of Office 2007 Pro from here: http://www.powertogether.com/. We recieved the URL to get the install file and the Product Key in the mail. All good so far, I downloaded, installed and activated so I am good and legal, but I wanted to burn the install file so I have a back up. I used the Sonic Software on my Dell 8400 and it claimed the burn was good. I could see the disk was partially burnt when I looked at it visually, but when I tried to take the disk up to my wife's PC to install her copy with her key it could find nothing on the disk. When I brought it back to my PC it too could not find the file. Windows Explorer shows the used disk space on the disk correctly for the file, but does not show the file. We each have Win XP SP2 -her's is Pro and mine Home.

Now admittedly the disks were old and slow as compared to today's capable speeds but I would have thought that this would only make me wait longer to complete the burn. Have I run up against a new security feature or????

Thanks

I havent seen an "install file" that will give you Office 2k7 - what was the file format? Usually, the most common file format I've seen for Office 2k7 is an ISO.
It's highly unlikely that it's a new security feature esp If you have a valid license for a downloaded product. Office 2k7 also doesnt "fill" the entire DVD when burnt either, so it does look visually like a lot of space remaining.

the file is
Name X12-30196.exe
Type Application

I can send the URL via PM of you wish- it is not even a HTTPS - you type it in and immedaitely pops up the File download window. The file is only 388 MB so I was not even using a DVD just a plain old CD-R

Interesting. I was trying to make a copy of the Office 2K7 DVD and it failed multiple times. A co-worker got it to work on his burner though.

I would probably check with MS to make sure that it can be done.

Drop the .exe file into a CD layout and burn it. To install it, simply copy it to the hard drive, remove the read-only attribute, and run it.

Probably some DRM requirement on the burner.

Thanks all- I'll try the copy on both a newer (faster) CD and on the wifes PC since we had to DL the EXE to get the install done there and I'll let you knwo how it goes.

Partial Resolution

Well I finally got around to looking into this. I went to the Launch event too and had the other bigger copy of Office to burn so I figured it would be a good time to test and take more care in watching how things went.

Well - It seems that after I burn a disk the computer changes the drive type from DVD-RW Drive to CD Drive. After I re boot the drive comes back as a DVD-RW drive. I noticed that the Sonic writing software had to be manually closed (Record now.exe) when re booting so it looks like that is is what is hanging the system up.
