Depending on what version of MS Office you have, you can do it through Add/Remove Programs. Start - Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs - Microsoft Office 2xxx. Check it and click change. In maintenance setup, remove the Outlook features and update.

In order to reinstall it, you can simply slip in the install CD and add a new feature, "Outlook".

I just re-installed office an outlook still had previous emails in it and still takes about a minute to open up. Do you know what would cause this? Shouldn't I have to set up email again? this doesn't make sense to me. I hope it does for you and you have an answer?

Where is pst file located on XP?

The search function will find it for you. You need to search in hidden and system folders. Search for outlook.pst.

Final warning - use the EDIT button. 2 posts merged.

The file will generally be under "Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook". You should be able to find the Outlook.pst file if you can see hidden files and folders.
