office 2007 close file (but only the file)

how can i close just the file i'm viewing (when viewing only one file) and not exit the program (word and powerpoint).

i want to be able to click on a "word" file, wait for the program to startup, view the file, decide to close it and open another but not have to go through the process of starting up the program again.

i know i can open another one first and then close the first one, but i don't like that option.

basically, i want to have that little "x" under the big "X", like in the older versions.

Not sure about 2007, but in all previous version you can click on File->CLOSE

Click the big 'office' button in the top left, then 'close' at the bottom of the list.

Its strange that Excel 07 has the two X's but Word only the one I played around a bit in options looking for a way to add the other one, but could not find it.

FK's method does work though -so thanks

that works great. i added the "close" to the quick access ribbon and now it's just like in the older versions (only on the other side).

stupid that it's like that in "word" and "powerpoint" but not in "excel".
