PhotoGallery

Starting last night after looking at some pictures that my brother sent me from his Mac, I am getting this pop up when I boot up my computer.

PhotoGallery, the "caution" flag and this note:

This installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package.
This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2908".

There is a button to click OK. When I click it I get a small task window showing the amount of completion which is stuck at 3 bars of the band (maybe 5%)

I cannot close it and I cannot shut down my compluter via the windows shutdown method.
I have to manuall shut down the power.

If I reboot and close the PhotoGallery as it is loading, all is fine and normal.

I have no clue as to where this installer came from or how to get rid of it.

I tried a file recovery using PC Inspector and also System Mechanic Pro 6 and found nothing obvious.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks

Wow, 22 responses and no clues on a fix.
Well, that is ok because I stumbled onto the fix via a lot of file searching in different programs.

I had mistakingly deleted two files:

Microsoft.NET Framework 1.1 &
Microsoft.NET Framework 1.1 Hotfix.

The stupidity on my part was emptying the recycle bin prior to rebooting my computer.

Once I found the missing file and seeing that it was a Windows file, I inserted my Window disc, installed the two files, and all was right again.

So, even if it ain't broke, keep on fixing things.
