Office 2007

Hey guys, I was wondering if it would be worth it to buy office 2k7. I was using 2000, but I have to upgrade for my compsci class because excel 2000 won't let you change the color of the sheet tabs.

Basically two questions.

1. Is it worth the extra $30 over 2003 so I don't have to worry about upgrading in the future.

2. Will it be backwards compatable with 2003 so the TA's can grade my spreadsheets and Access stuff?

1. not sure. i like it but i don't know if i $30-like-it.
2. yes. you just have to set the default to save in 2003 compatibility mode.

you can always try open office, it's free.

From what I've read, you have to relearn using the commands and all cuz they completely redid the "shape" of 2007.

I have been using the new office now for about a week- Yes- the ribbon does force you to re learn a lot of stuff

I like being able to 'publish' to PDF without any extra software - you do have to DL the add on from MS though. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Another neat thing I found is you can 'Pin' a frequently used file / template to the recently used file list. You can save in anything back to 95 format for compatability with others. It is of course a personal thing, but my vote is a definite thumbs up. I use it all day with primary usage being Access and Excel.

To be fair- One thing that was a pain was the disabling of Macros in Access unless they were digitally signed. I use a lot of macros since my work is client reporting. I fixed this by going into the "Trust Center" and just telling Acess that the folder where I keep them all is trusted. If you do not do this is opens the DB without the Macro access until you tell it yes I trust my database and then it re opens.

Will it let you install to multiple computers the way the old ones did? I have like 3 computers that I will probably need to upgrade while I'm at it. I guess I don't really have a choice, but it would irritate me if I have to buy multiple licenses.

The only version that will install on 3 computers is the student and teacher, which does not have Access. The standard Professional can be installed on one desktop and one laptop - ONLY.
