Boom NeroVision Freeze Problem.

Doubtful and one can help me but, i

've been using nerovision to convert files to a dvd so they have simple menus and alike, however for unknown reasons the program will get stuck on certain videos while transcoding, the program does not freeze or stop responeding, it simplely appears to stop its process.

it will continue to do it everytime with certain files, however i have a series of files all the same format and codec so i really cant understand why, there are no program updates, it is possible to recode each file to a differing format before trying to burn, however every transcode lose's quailty and makes the process that much longer.

any ideas? or altertives?

Cheers.

Let's see if I have this straight.
Nero only stops on certain files?
You noted which ones and then checked then so you're sure they haven't been corrupted?

People either love or hate Nerovision. I'd look at a different transcoding app if you are having problems.

You can first check to see if there's an update for your version and then you can check out this little quirk with the program (scroll down) : http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.c...1157400&page=1

The problem of the OP goes back a long time on other forums, back to 2004 and from what I could see most had to solve the problem by going back to Nerovision 2. Nero has been working on the problem since Nero 6 let alone 7. On just this forum, see:

Matt, I edited your last post, this forum can't allow bad language (even British bad language!)

You might consider using an alternative to nerovision. I use various freeware applications to do my encoding, and though it might take longer, I'm happy with the end result.

Look into 'GUI for DVD Author' - you can find it at the excellent resource that is www.videohelp.com. It's an authoring program that converts .mpegs into the .vob files needed for a DVD - but it's not an 'all in one' program that will transcode from other formats.

What format are your original files in?

opps, sorry about that.

most of my files are .avi or .mpegs - i'm looking for a program as simple to sue as nerovision that does the same job, i want the ability to create the menus and chapters and burn off the finished results.

cheers.

You can do all that stuff with Gui for DVD author for the .mpegs, but the .avi files will need to be transcoded first. For those, I use another freeware program called 'gui4ffmpeg'. You can find that on Video Help, too, with some guides on how to use.

I'm a bit old-fashioned and don't mind doing things 'manually' (both of those tools are basically GUIs for command-line processors). I find I get more control over the finished results that way.

What's the alternative for a slideshow authoring program using .jpgs or other to vcd, svcd or DVD?

Exactly the same happened to me.

I have a few AVI files captured from my Sony DV Camcorder.

Some files work ok, but others appear to cause Nero Vision to stop working on the transcoding stage. It is strange at the timer showing progress still keeps working, but the process doesn't appear to be requesting any CPU time when you look in task manager.

I have also just updated to V4 in the hope that would be better, but so far it hasn't helped!

It is very annoying as it takes soooo long you can't just sit and watch it!

Maybe Nero will release an update soon, although if the problem has been going on since V3, then maybe this is unlikely.
