??

im looking to sell my old computer and was wanting to know if there is a way to get everything off of it except the OS, as if it were new?

If you have the OS install disks or a recovery disk it is not only possbile but rather simple. If you dont you will need to delete each and every file that you are concerned with. Even then they are not really gone. They can be recovered. Please list whether it is a homemade or store bought computer and the specs (Brand, model, etc) and we'll get you an answer to your question.

it is a store bought computer. it is a hp pavilion xt963
it came with windows xp on it so i do not have any disks

If you do not have the EULA for that Windows installation, it is illegal to sell that computer with that copy of Windows. The easiest thing to do would be to purchase a new copy of XP, reformat the drive with that disc and reinstall the OS. Then sell the computer and give the new owner the Windows disc.

well the computer came with it already installed but it does have a product key if that makes any difference?

What you need to do is do a destructive system recovery from the recovery partition.
