Have resently restored my computer after a major harddrive fail inwhich i lost all my music, fortunately it was all synced with my ipod, however i now need to transfer it back, but... i've tried ipod rip which continuously crash's, any alteratives anyone can recomend, open source or free ware would be best, dont want to spend much money.
Cheers. M@

I myself don't have an Ipod, but why cant you turn off auto-sync in ITunes and just rip them from there?
Edit: After doing some hw, i found this. Scroll down for the program and a tutorial on how to do it. http://www.engadget.com/2004/11/02/h...off-your-ipod/ Last edited by FLG; 02-18-2007 at 12:54 PM. |

Head over to the the Apple support site : http://discussions.apple.com/categor...categoryID=149
Use search for file/folder/music transfers before you do anything drastic.

you can always open your ipod like a harddrive and make sure you can veiw hidden files and find the music files and simply copy them and move them but you won't get all the music most of it i haven't figured out why i didn't get all the music probly because of copy protection

ok, i grabbed my gf's ipod and went on the forums pam pointed you to. Here's how i did it.
1) Open itunes, go to edit, preferences, and the advanced tab. Check off "Keep my itunes folder organized" and "Copy files to itunes music.....library" 2) Go to file, add folder to library. 3) In the dialog box, find your ipod and click "ok". It will now start to transfer your music from your ipod to the itunes library. Also, make sure you have auto sync turned off. |

There is a program that I use called Ipod access. There is a windows version. It's a great program and it will title the files correctly as oppsed to pulling it straight from the iPod.
