application launcher

i recently replaced my anti virus from norton to avg. The problem is every time i boot up my machine i get a small window open saying( application failed to launch) does any one know what is causing this , everything seems to work normally

Does it specify which app?

What you could do is type msconfig in your Run... box under the Start menu. Click the Startup tab and see what things are checked. If there are any Norton AV entries, you could uncheck them to see if that stops the message.

If there are any Norton entries that would mean he didn't uninstall it. Which he MUST do, considering competing AV proggies do not get along. In which case, Add/Remove in Control Panel would take care of it.

thanx for tip kov-ice i went into msconfig and selected help and it talked me through it .problem solved now i hope!
