Good downloadable word processor that is stable and cheap
Does anyone know of a good, stable word processing program I can download for like under $50 US? I don't really need a suite, no spreadsheet or anything else, just word procesing.
Open Office and Abiword just aren't stable enough when I run SecondLife.com... They constantly crash.... Could it be cuz I only got 1 Gig of RAM? Thanks in advance...

I've used AbiWord for the last 5 years : http://www.abisource.com/
It's stable, fully compatible with Word and Word Perfect, updated regularly and, with a plugin, will be supporting ODF ( It's got even more plugins for for you to turn it into even more of a cross - featured platform if necessary.). Best of all, it's free. ![]() edit : I have no problem with Abiword and Second Life and I have 1 GB of ram. I'd need a little more info to have a shot at figuring out your problem so why not fill me in?

I don't have any thing else to add other than I deleted most all my games and other apps that i don't use in hopes it will stabilize my word proc proggies. So far, it's going ok with Open Office's Writer proggie. I do occasionally get a memory dump from the driver emupia blah blah something... (big help, huh?) and perhaps that has something to do with it. |

If Open Office's writer is working fine for you then let well enough alone.
Getting memory dumps though, that suggest something is going on also that warning is for E-mu Plug-in Architecture driver which goes with Creative digital sound . |

You can get older versions of WordPerfect on the famous auction site for a good price.
