Installing Adobe 8 from a drive

a neighbor of mine needs Adobe 8 reader, but only has dail-up internet. So the download would take like 5 hours. I have DSL. How can I put Adobe 8 onto a CD or USB drive where it will set-up on another computer. I know a lot of programs you can just save the setup file, but after saving the Adobe 8 setup file and running it, it then goes to download. I hope I have made sense. Basically, how can I install Adobe reader 8 from a drive, rather than a download. thanks

You can download it and transfer it. I don't think that you can turn off updates with 8 though. You could download and install FoxIt Reader, a very small PDF reader that works very well.

How do you transfer it? You can't just copy the program in Program Files can you? After downloading the setup and running the setup, there is no option to save to disk when the setup has initiated downloading.

Transfer the install file. When your given the option to open or save. Save the file to your desktop and then transfer to your USB stick, a blank cd or whatever other method you choose.

The problem is that the standard installer is a tiny file that then downloads the actual data it needs during the install process. What you need to download and transfer with your flashdrive is the standalone install, here it is.
