modifying logitech set point software

hi

how do i go about modifying the set point software. i wanted change it so i can use the mouse wheel to cruse the DPI settings up & down, insted of the side buttons and the - & + near the mouse wheel.

or to press a side button to increse the DPI and when i let go it goes back to the previous DPI setting.

i have a mx518, can the set point software from a logitech G5/G7 etc do this?

thanks

Right click on the mouse icon in your system tray.
That will bring up the menu.
Read through Mouseware Help first.
Then go into Properties and make the changes.
You may not be able to make all the changes you'd like but at least you'll know what you can and can't do.
Once you've made the changes make a note to yourself someplace where you'll see it fairly often because, and this I guarantee, you're going to come across a program that won't cooperate until you change those settings back to the defaults and by then you'll have forgotten exactly what it was you did.

ty for reply pam123

i already know all that, but set point dont give me the option to set the mouse wheel to cruse the speed up and down, just the side buttons or the + & - on the mouse.

i need to modify the software to do it, like type some lines of code in there somehow.
i would love it so i could hold down the right mouse button and it goes to 1600dpi and when i release it, it goes back to 650dpi

I know of no legal way you can do that unless you're running Linux but you may have an alternative.
Logitech updates it's mouse drivers several times a year, though most people don't take advantage of that fact, and they often add new functionality when they do so.
It's definitely a trial error process and something of a gamble but if you're game, and remember to set Restore points, go here and see if any of these will work for you : http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/KEY...OUSE/LOGITECH/
